  • NextGen Slideshow Fixed - 2011-09-17 20:53:34 -

I uninstalled the NextGEN plugin and reinstalled it but my gallery links were demolished. I will re-import them to set up a new link table - when I have time. Thanks again for the heads up.

No I am not giving up on blogging or podcasting!

On the contrary, I have 96 private postings from the last 14 months on various topics which I shared with 43 WordPress trainees. 29 of these WordPress enthusiasts are from the eTwinning community and the remainder are teachers from around Ireland and some PC users who attended last year's Digital Bootcamp organised by the INTo and delivered by Apple last summer in Alexander College, Dublin.

I will tidy them up, especially the posts with links and publish them (publicly) over the next few weeks.

Thanks for the "Back 2 School" emails.

Library Database on Access

The library management application I cobbled together 10 years ago was on Access 97. The bar code reader was serial driven so it would not work on modern PCs. I don’t even have a copy of it nowadays. I would not bother doing a DIY job as it is too time consuming and you will end [...]

No Claim!

The Cornmarket’s teachers’ travel insurance have refused to entertain my claim for the laptop as the invoice is made out to CESI Drumconrda Education Centre. The amount involved is only a fifth of its replacement value.

Wild and Windy Weekend

I wonder how the Mooney Nestbox faired this weekend. The gusts of wind demolished my potted apple and cheery trees. Nearly all the emerging fruit ended on the ground. What a [...]

Mooney Cam Link

Many 4th Class pupils informed me that they were unable to view the the Blue Tit nest on the RTE Radio One's "Mooney" site. Just click on the above graphic to go to the "Mooney Cam" page.

You will need Real Player (click above link) to view the two cameras. [...]

Malta to be enlarged!

This morning RTE Radio One News reported that the islands of the the Republic of Malta are too small to be seen on the present map of Europe which graces the non-copper denominations of the €uro coins.

The 2008 minting will include "an enlarged" Malta for all to see. However, it will take the best part of 2008 for the new Irish [...]

Wireless Printer Server

Wireless G All-in-One Print Server

This is a very compact unit (about the size of a pack of 20 cigarettes) and comes supplied with Server software and a plug-in PSU. Unfortunately, the USB cable is not supplied.

Installation of the print server software and configuration of wireless setting took less than ten minutes. [...]

An access point plugs into a RJ45 scoket of a structured  cabling system and offers the user wireless access to the hardwired system in the building and its environs.
