The Computer Clubhouse provides a creative and safe after-school learning environment for young people from the under-served communities of the south west inner city area of Dublin. The young members work with adult mentors to explore their own ideas, develop skills, and build confidence in themselves through the use of technology. The model of learning was developed by Media Lab at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the Boston Museum of Science.
The Computer Clubhouse is a non-profit organization run by the South West Inner City Network (SWICN) and is part of the INTEL Computer Clubhouse Network .

A very confident and tech savvy Emer from Warrenmount Presentation Primary School, in Dublin’s Liberties fired a series of off-the-cuff, common sense questions at two unsuspecting gentlemen (Keith Kennedy and James Corbett of Daynuv) displaying “Virtual Europe”, an OpenSim creation, at today’s inaugural Annual Showcase of the Computer Clubhouse held in the club’s premises in the Digital Hub. Emer was so fast in her quickfire delivery that it was necessary to slow down proceedings with a suitable piece of background music from the podSafe Music Network entitled “The Specialist.”
Congratulations to everyone involved!

Hello, I read your blog every few days and I was amazed to learn about the Computer Clubhouse and all it is doing. What areas are they operating in? Can anyone turn up or is it confined to a locality or parish?
My children are computer mad and would love the opportunity to take part or join or do whatever is necessary.
Thanks everyone for your comments but you did all the work. I included thumbnails in the post as I did not receive permission to link to the full size images.
I don’t normally edit posts but I have just included James and Keith from Daynuv.com in the podcast credits. It was great to see adults treating children’s questions with respect.
Hi Joe,
Thanks for the fantastic photos – they really captured the day. Really enjoyed looking at them yesterday afternoon!
And thanks for the great review. Will share with the youngsters next week.
