The  first attempt to export the content of the  CESI Dublin blog met with partial success.

I presume it is a matter of permissions as some of the contributors and authors posted privately and I will have to contact after mid-term break.

Some of the financial chit-chat posted by teachers during summer 2007 was a sign of things to come.

The CESI Dublin site cost nothing but it was not seen as an asset to CESI. Admittedly, there was a time overhead involved in the management  and moderating of the site. Unfortunately, CESI members living and teaching in Dublin did not use the site. The vast majority of visitors and commenters were non-CESI members. In fact, it may be a sign of my age but I did not know the most of them so I could not verify them for posting purposes. I also did not share their  militant and separatists views.

The CESI Dublin site will remain intact just in case the Dublin Branch needs a web presence in the next 12 months. After all is said and done – IT IS FREE!

The blog and podcasting course requested by members following the 2008 Conference is going ahead for one week only next July. The compulsory late start on Tuesday and the subsquent Saturday finish has resulted in 9 cancellations.  So for any of you who are not flying out on the Friday night or early Saturday morning the course has plenty of places available.

No previous web authoring, blogging or podcasting experience required.

The primary school year ends tomorrow and along with it the official one year run of our eTwinning project “Once Upon A Blog.”

This project has received international recognition on a worldwide basis and many teachers have told me that the project has had a positive influence on their teaching styles.

I received 11 links from educators in Europe, 4 from the USA and 2 from Australia all of whom have embarked on a similar media streaming journey as a result of viewing “Once Upon A Blog.” Unfortunately without exception, everyone of the sites carried unpredictable advertising and were subsequently blocked by Fortinet, HEAnet’s schools’ broadband contracted content filtering service.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the 1394 people who emailed podmaster@slua.com in the past academic year. It is a pity you did not comment on the site or give permission for your emails to be published. I realise teachers, in particular, are slow to put their thoughts in writing especially in a second or third language.

The project will continue though I do not know whether its eTwinning life can be extended. I will have to discuss it with my colleague in Malta who is very busy at present.

In the meantime take a look at this video. It is a bit long and the music could be a bit more upbeat but take it for what it is worth. The digital natives are growing restless!
