The 4th Class girls in Saint Attracta’s S.N.S. were delighted to find that the Google Image search facility was available on the Schools’ Broadband service this morning. The usual cohort of puppies and ponies found their way into their DTP projects. The boys on the other hand did not even know the service had been suspended!
The NCTE Help Desk seemed to be unaware of the problem. But they have agreed to pass the Google Image Search problem over to HEAnet.
It would appear that images found by other search engines seem to be unaffected on the SBN. In fact if “dog pictures” is Googled it provides some images in the text [...]
No warning! The Google Image Search facility has been blocked on the Schools’ Broadband Service.
It seems to have fallen foul of FortiNet filtering protocols. I doubt if it was a policy decision by the NCTE as many schools use Google Image Search everyday. There may have been a category filing software glitch which triggered the [...]
Froogle beta has gone and given way to Google Product Search. It was very useful for price comparison when shopping online or bidding on eBay. This is also a beta service. I wonder how long this will last.
