Missing Images

I received yet another abusive comment regarding missing images on certain posts. The posts in question were imported from the now defunct CESI Dublin blog. One of three things may have happened. Firstly the graphic or image in question may not have travelled during the porting process. Secondly, it may have been corrupted or blocked by my malware filters and finally there may have been an outstanding copyright issue associated with the file in question.

The photos from the Easter Egg Hunt were automatically uploaded to Flickr in the early hours of Easter Sunday morning. All images are available upon request to participants only. Email me at podmaster [at] slua.com, identifing yourself and including your email address for the return invitation to Flickr. Images containing children are available to their parents and guardians only.

New Twitter Image Service

I waited a few days before publishing this post as there was an element of April Foolery going on in the video – it was conducted on April 1st. The new service is called TweetPhoto and it will be available at the end of the month sometime. 5000 pre-launch (beta) invitations are up for grabs so click on TweetPhoto if you are interested. IMAGEBANK launched

Minister for Education and Science, Batt O’Keeffe T.D. was busy yesterday in the Phoenix Park, in the Zoological gardens to be precise. Yes, the zoo was the venue for the NCTE’s launch of imagebank.ie. I could not make the launch myself as I had an appointment with the academic council in UL at 10.30 a.m.

The NCTE press release describes the aim and content of the site as follows:- ”ImageBank.ie is intended as a supportive resource for students and teachers in Irish education. Part of Scoilnet, ImageBank.ie is a safe online photo library containing thousands of photos suitable for use in the classroom. The site provides access to photos of Irish significance and of relevance to the Irish curriculum such as, historical sites and buildings, animals, sport and flowers.

The website has been designed to allow members of the public, especially those with a direct connection or interest in Irish education, to upload any relevant photos they may have so that schoolchildren and teachers can use the images in their classrooms.”Check out the categories and technical requirements then if you have suitable digital images please register with imagebank.ie and upload your offerings. Please note - the images must be be your own work. Third party images will be rejected.

Joe Dale at CESI 2008

Joe Dale’s Saturday’s slot a threCESI 2008 conference was over subscribed. Image what a Friday slot would have been like.

I couldn’t attend myself as I was finalising the annual accounts for the AGM which followed immediately afterwards.

Joe likes to record events in audio and image. The CESI conference was no exception. Check out his Flickr Set on CESI Conference 2008.

I noticed Joe talking to Patricia Donaghy. Patricia launched an International Edubloggers’ Directory last month. It sounds like a great idea. I failed to contact her by email as school network is in mess and was up to eyes in CESI paper work. There may be a problem with the email address. Either way, I will place her logo and embedded link on the left sidebar as soon as I get a bit of spare time.

Today was the official last posting date for Conference 2008 Registrations. The conference committee cannot guarantee a place or meal if you leave it any later. However, if you have a postal collection to-morrow (Saturday) you are in luck. Please do not post your registration on Monday as they go to Drumcondra Education Centre for processing.After Today please use the PayPal service for booking.
