I have upraded to WordPress 2.7 beta2.
The NoRevisions plugin - the work around solution for podPress8.8 does not function in v2.7 so any page with a podPress insertion generates an error

This blog is running on WordPress 2.7 beta1 for the last few days. The Dashboard is well laid out and really easy to use. I am looking forward to the official release.

It is “business as usual” until the new eTwinning portal is launched on September 29th. Existing projects will continue to be supported in the “old” TwinSpace until January 2009 but will receive a Desktop and Public Area makeover.

Fáilte romhat chuig láithreán slua.com
A special welcome to all the teachers visiting this site during the August inservice courses. Unfortunately, the site is still running in private mode at the moment so only logged on members can view the posts. However, the majority of the old content and links are still in operation and some of the general interest posts have been made public.
As was stated in the July posting the high profile of the site made it the target of several defacement attacks by Turkish hackers in 2007. The Gallery 2 subsite was also defaced and and finally disabled by eploiting an unknown and then undocumented vunerability in the code. An updated version has since been released but as the project had ended it was decided by the eTwinning partners to decommission the gallery.
You do not need to know anything about the inner workings of websites to blog or podcast. Free sites such as WordPress.com and Edubloggers.org handle a lot of the filtering and site security for the user. All the main free email providers also offer blogging and podcasting facilities but they also carry advertising which may be unsuitable for student viewing. Check out their facilities for educational use - it may involve commercial free space.
Thanks for dropping in. I hope to re-activate the site for general use in September.

I don’t know when this plugin became available for WordPress users but I have put the code in Sidebar 2. I was my own best customer for the first minute or so until I configured it to ignore my IP address.

Happy Birthday to Jing!
The Jing Project http://www.jingproject.com/ is one year old. Despite its success it is still free but it is officially becoming a TechSmith product offering soon! The premium versions of the product will be available shortly. TechSmith, the home of Camtasia http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp offers education pricing.
The main difference between Jing and Camtasia is that Jing records screen activity on the fly (live) - no editing is permitted. Be that as it may, it is a great tool for educational use.
Beta testers received a birthday gift of an upgrade to their complimentary Screencast.com http://www.screencast.com/ accounts today. We got a 2 GB storage and transfer bump-up. !0 times bigger than it was yesterday.

Minister for Education and Science, Batt O’Keeffe T.D. was busy yesterday in the Phoenix Park, in the Zoological gardens to be precise. The zoo was the venue for the NCTE’s launch of imagebank.ie.
I could not make the launch myself as I had an appointment with the academic council in UL at 10.30 a.m.
The NCTE press release describes the aim and content of the site as follows:- ”ImageBank.ie is intended as a supportive resource for students and teachers in Irish education. Part of Scoilnet, ImageBank.ie is a safe online photo library containing thousands of photos suitable for use in the classroom. The site provides access to photos of Irish significance and of relevance to the Irish curriculum such as, historical sites and buildings, animals, sport and flowers. The website has been designed to allow members of the public, especially those with a direct connection or interest in Irish education, to upload any relevant photos they may have so that schoolchildren and teachers can use the images in their classrooms.”
Check out the categories and technical requirements then if you have suitable digital images please register with imagebank.ie and upload your offerings. Please note - the images must be be your own work. Third party images will be rejected.
